it is about 5 pm local time and i have just showered and put on clean clothes . . . we are at our host sara's house in bayreuth (pronounced bai-roit). she lives within walking distance from the trainstation, so that makes things nice. bayreauth is a fairly small town, so getting around should be easy.
right now we are both pretty tired. we landed in frankfurt at about 9am (that's midnight in oregon) after a 9 and a half hour flight that included only about a half hour or so of sleep for both of us.
we rode the train from frankfurt to wurtzburg and then changed trains to get to bayreuth. we arrived here around 330 or so.
sarah is now making us kartoffeln (potatoes) for dinner . . . mmm . . . german food!
tomorrow jon will visit the archives and begin his research. and i . . . well, i will get some sleep, walk around town and maybe meet jon at the wagner museum in the afternoon.
this is going to be nice.

so lucky to be in another country. it is very beautiful there...(i heard and i lived there for 3 years)
what hit me when i was in ireland was that I WAS IN IRELAND!!!
it's nice the setup that you guys are having... getting to see some of it alone... having that chance to feel adventerous and independent, but knowing that husband is nearby... I don't know how you feel about it, but that is how I would feel... (napoleon voice)LUCKY!!!

niki: tabitha slept until 10am. lazy girl. jon got up at 7. we both went to bed around 9. i think.
I'm so excited for you guys to be over there.. and did I mention that I'm totally jelous!!
